BIOGRAPHY
José María Yazpik was born in Mexico City on November 13, 1970. Son of a gynecologist, Dr. José María Meza, and Cristina Yazpik. He lived his entire childhood in Mexico City until the age of 12 when he, along with his family, moved to San Diego, California. As soon as he finished his high school studies, he moved to Tijuana, Mexico, to attend Law School, but in his first year of law a personal experience made him replace law with acting, so he enrolled in the most recognized acting academy in Mexico: CEA (Televisa Center for Acting Studies) where after participating in some soap operas, success came in 1998 with his role in Life in the Mirror (1999), where he played a controversial homosexual. He worked on Sueño (2005), starring John Leguizamo and Ana Claudia Talancón. In 2012 he participated in the film Colosio: The Murder , Carlos Bolado’s fourth feature film, where he played the investigator Andrés. That same year Pedro Almodóvar signed him again to be the co-star of the film Los Lovers Passengers , in which he shares credit with the actor Spanish Javier Cámara. Yazpik debuts as a filmmaker with Polvo (2019), a black humor film.
