DUBOIS - A unique nano-brewery will open its doors Saturday in Clearfield County.
BoxCar Brew Works is located at the Depot at Doolittle's on Rich Valley Highway in DuBois.
Brewer and manager, John Frampton, said the concept is to provide a place for home brewers and secondary brewers to share their products.
"It's an original idea. I don't know of any other brewery doing it," Frampton said. "There's a lot of home brewers out there that only brew products for family and friends. They can now come here, brew their products by using our equipment and have it on tap."
Frampton said the brewers will not profit from having their beer on tap.
The business consists of five train cars. The taproom is located in a 1920s era baggage car and boxcar. The brewery is in a 1960s era boxcar with a 1940s caboose for storage. There's also additional seating in a 1910 era caboose.
If you want to know what's on the menu or tap, the only way is to stop by.
"The whole concept of the place as far as the food, beer and the drinks go is that it’s written on chalkboards," Frampton said. "So when we have it, we have it. When it's gone, it may never come back or it may be a seasonal rotation.”
Boxcar Brew Works will open Saturday at 2 p.m.
